My Father has been a staple in cigar lounges for years. Their blends have been a part of cigar smokers' lives since their inception, and provide a memorable and delicious experience. Their newest cigar, the Blue, keep their reputation for great blends going. Read the review, and consider smoking the My Father Blue the next time your looking for a bold cigar.
The appearance of the Blue follows the motif of the rest of the My Father line. The band is a light blue, elegantly ordained with details which help catch the eye of the cigar smoker. Both the main and secondary band feature gold lettering, eluding to the cigars distinguished profile. There is also a blue ribbon wrapped around the foot of the cigar. The cigar itself is a medium-dark brown, and has a slight oily sheen. While the cigar is smooth to the touch, there are some veins around the body of the cigar.
The Blue is constructed with Honduran Binder and Filler, and wrapped in a Connecticut Broadleaf Rosado. The draw is smooth, though is can be a bit tight at times. The ash is sturdy, and falls around the one inch mark. The ask is also a light gray, almost white. The burn line is even and consistent throughout the smoke.
The Blue's flavor profile is definitely memorable, and all the flavors blended well together. The cold draw may have notes of brown sugar, cream, and graham cracker. The first light may have notes of white pepper, and baker's chocolate.
The first third of the cigar may have strong notes of earth and baker's chocolate. These are accompanied by notes of white pepper and toffee. An aroma of espresso is also present, along with a hint of orange zest. The restrohale on the first third may have notes of pastry, black pepper, and dark chocolate.
The second third may have upfront notes of espresso and cream. Undertones of roasted cashews, white pepper, and baker's chocolate. Subtle notes of fig and ginger can also be tasted throughout the second third. The restrohale of the second third may have notes of black pepper, dark chocolate, and graham cracker.
The final third of the Blue has notes of espresso and earth, accompanied by notes of toast and brown sugar. There may also be notes of roasted cashews and and cedar. The restrohale of the final third may have notes of espresso, pastry, and dark chocolate.
The Blue is priced very reasonably. Going for around $12.00 per single and $240.00 for a box of 20, the My Father Blue is perfectly priced, and should be added into your rotation. The flavor profile and construction are great representations for the cigar's price, and are sure to not disappoint. While this cigar is closer to the full-bodied end of the spectrum, it will be perfect for intermediate and veteran cigar smokers.
