Crowned Heads have made a name for themselves as one of the premier boutique cigar brands. Their portfolio is stacked with great blends, the Mil Dias, Four Kicks, and their yearly Las Calaveras releases are just a few. This is a review of their newest line, the Broadway. Give it a read, and consider adding the Broadway to your humidor.

The Broadway has a unique appearance to say the least. To start, this cigar has their rebranded design. The Crowned Heads logo is prominent on the primary band, which uses a red, gold, white, and blue color motif. The secondary band is primarily gold, with red accents. "Broadway" is printed boldly on the secondary band. The cigar itself is dark brown in color. It's a bit toothy, and has some veins showing but none protruding out.

The Broadway is constructed with Nicaraguan Fillers, a Nicaraguan Binder, and a Connecticut Broadleaf Wrapper. The draw is smooth and consistent throughout the smoke. The cigar provides a great smoke output, which just adds to the smoking experience. The ash is almost white, and falls at the start of the second third. The burn line is exquisite, and stays consistent throughout the smoke.

The flavor profile of the Broadway is complex and strong. The cold draw may provide notes of raisins and cedar. The first light may provide notes of cocoa powder, almond, and cedar.

The first third of the cigar may have front notes of cocoa powder and molasses. Undertones of earth and almond compliment these well, along with a subtle creaminess. Notes of dark roast coffee and earth linger on the palate, with a subtle hint of dry hay. There may also be a tinge of black pepper, which helps to open up the flavor and pull everything together. The retrohale of the first third may have notes of black pepper, earth, and cedar.

The second third strays a bit from the notes in the first third. Front notes of dark coffee and earth hit the palate strong, and the notes of black pepper become more prominent. Hints of cocoa powder and molasses stay on the palate, along with undertones of ginger and orange zest. The retrohale of the second third may have notes of black pepper, dark roast coffee, and earth.

The final third of the cigar may have the notes of cocoa powder come to the forefront of the palate with notes of dark roast coffee. Notes of black pepper start to subside. Undertones of molasses remain consistent, and the notes of almond linger back onto the palate. The retrohale of the final third may have notes of black pepper, cream, and dark roast coffee.

The Broadway is priced decently. Going for around $12.95 for a single cigar, and $271.95 for a box of 21, this cigar is priced in a good range. However, the flavor profile may bring down the consistency of the smoke, and provide an uneven experience. While the construction is beautiful, the flavor profile's complexity can be a bit overpowering on the palate. This cigar would be good for a more experienced cigar smoker, who can pick up on the more nuanced flavors.
