Espinosa has been coming out with some amazing cigars, especially within the last few years. Since 2022, Espinosa and Guy Fieri have been collaborating on the Knuckle Sandwich line. This line of cigars has been a fan favorite throughout the cigar community, and is one of the most popular and successful celebrity brands on the market. The subject of this review is one of the latest additions to the Knuckle Sandwich line, the Knuckle Sandwich Puro. Read the review, and consider adding the Knuckle Sandwich Puro to your rotation.
The Knuckle Sandwich Puro has the quintessential chef skull and star on the main band. There is a secondary band with the word "PURO" boldly presented. Both the main band and secondary band are embossed, and give off a great presentation. The bands use a black, silver, and red color scheme. There is also a foot ribbon on the cigar. The cigar itself is medium-dark brown in color. There is a toothy texture to the wrapper, as well as a slight oily sheen. The cigar is a regular parejo.
The Knuckle Sandwich Puro is constructed with Nicaraguan Filler, Binder, and Wrapper, living up to its name. The draw is effortless, allowing the smoke to hit the palate perfectly. The ash is light-medium gray, and is very sturdy. The ash doesn't fall until well into the second third. The burn line is exquisite, and the smoke output gives a great additional aroma to the smoking experience.
The flavor profile is where the Knuckle Sandwich Puro shines. It's powerful, yet delectable. The cold draw may provide notes of dried fruit, toffee, and oak. The first light presents strong notes of black pepper and baker's chocolate to start.
The first third of the cigar may feature strong front notes of baker's chocolate and expresso, with the black pepper note falling to the background. Subtle notes of oak and earth accompany the front notes. Notes of roasted walnut and hints of red pepper add depth and complexity to the flavor. The retrohale of the first third may feature notes of black pepper, baker's chocolate, and roasted walnut.
The second third of the cigar may feature stronger notes of espresso and earth. These are accompanied by notes of black pepper, and baker's chocolate, which grow in strength throughout the second third. Undertones of oak can also be tasted, along with a hint of molasses which lingers on the palate. The retrohale of the second third may have notes of espresso, black pepper, and toffee.
The final third of the cigar may have front notes of black pepper and espresso, with earthy notes lingering right behind. Roasted walnut and baker's chocolate blend together nicely. Subtle hints of red pepper and dark brown sugar also hit the palate, with notes of molasses. The retrohale of the final third may have notes of baker's chocolate, espresso, and toast.
The Knuckle Sandwich Puro is priced very well. A single cigar can goes for around $15.39, while a box of 20 can go for around $307.80. Given the flavor profile alone, this cigar is definitely worth the price. This is a great cigar for the experienced cigar smoker. While it may be a bit too strong for the newer cigar smokers, those who have been smoking for a few years will enjoy its complexity and experience. This cigar is a box-worthy cigar, meaning if you decide to purchase a box, you will go through it as quickly as you bought it.
